Sounds repeat because of an IRQ conflict with another device
Cause:
There is an IRQ conflict between the sound card and another device.
Solution:
Resolve the IRQ conflict.
To resolve the IRQ conflict:
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'.

3) Double-click the 'System' icon.

4) Click the 'Device Manager' tab.
5) Double-click 'Sound, Video and Game Controllers'.

6) Double-click on the sound card listed .
7) Click the 'Resources' tab.
8) Check the 'Conflicting Device List' box for conflict with another device.

9) If yes, note the IRQ address that is in conflict.
10) Click 'Cancel'.
11) Select 'Interrupt request (IRQ)'.
12) Double-click on 'Computer'.

13) Check the list showing the IRQ number assigned to each device on your computer. Find an IRQ number that is not used by another device.

14) Click 'Cancel'.
15) Double-click on the sound card.
16) Click the 'Resources' tab.
17) If 'Use automatic settings' is selected, clear it.

18) In the 'Resource Listings' box, double-click on 'Interrupt Request'.

19) In the 'Value' box, type the IRQ number for the sound card.

20) Click 'OK' from each dialog box until the 'Control Panel' appears.
